Speccy displays all your computer hardware components | A Tech ...

I absolutely hate it when someone asks me a question that I can?t answer when it comes to computers. How much memory does your computer have? Do you have an AMD or Intel processor? How big is your computer?s hard drive? Does it support USB 3.0?

Sometimes, you are not asked but you need to know for yourself, for instance when you play to? buy new hardware components. Say you want to buy an external hard drive.? If you know that your PC supports USB 3.0, you naturally would select a hard drive compatible with it as well to speed up transfers by a large margin. If you would buy an USB 2.0 device you could still connect and use it on the PC, but transfers would take a lot longer to complete.

Instead of trying to find the documents that came with your PC, you can run a portable program like Speccy instead to display all relevant information about your computer on a single screen in the interface.

pc hardware components information

Just run the program after you have downloaded and unpacked it on your system to get started right away. The overview screen provides you directly with the most important hardware information. This includes the following:

  • The cpu manufacturer and model
  • The RAM installed on the PC
  • The motherboard manufacturer, version and socket
  • The graphics cards and monitor
  • All connected hard drives and optical drives
  • The audio hardware

A click on an entry on the left displays detailed information on a new page. The majority of information may be helpful if you are trying to resolve hardware related issues, but not so much when it comes to upgrading PC hardware or answering the questions of support staff who drill you in that regard.

Speccy is a great program to get a quick overview of the components installed in a PC. While it is pretty through in this regard, it is not displaying some hardware related information like the type of USB ports available.
